Baby Birds

Our family has a soft spot for baby birds. Just over a week ago there was a strong wind storm. After when we were cleaning up our yard Brianna found a baby bird that had fallen out of its nest during the storm. The baby bird had a hurt foot and couldn't fly. Brianna named the bird Frederick. We took Frederick and put him back in our front yard. Frederick kept going out to the street. We kept putting him back in the yard but he kept going to the street. We tried putting a laundry basket over Frederick but he kept escaping through the holes. We didn't know what to do. As a family we said a prayer and asked Heavenly Father to bless the baby bird. Everyone went back to work but Brianna kept watching. The baby bird, Frederick, somehow decided to go back in the yard and up in the bushes and close to the house. The mama bird then came and started bringing Frederick worms.

Frederick stayed in the bushes for several days growing and getting his feathers. In the meantime we realized there was also another baby bird. He stayed in the front yard (Palmer liked petting him) or in a tree close to the house. This bird we named Bob.

Back to Frederick - Brianna woke up one morning and Frederick had fallen into the window well. We got him out and put him back in the front yard. Again our family said a prayer for the baby birds. We watched carefully and a few minutes later the mama bird flew into the yard, found a big worm and took it to Frederick. Frederick got so excited hopping up and down and flapping his wings and his mama continued to bring him worms. Bob just sat in the tree by the house. We went back to work. After about an hour or so I went out to check on the birds and they were all gone - the mama, Frederick and Bob.

What a great lesson for our family. We learned that through faith and prayers Heavenly Father blessed the baby birds. If Heavenly Father loves baby birds enough to answer our prayers how much greater is His love and our Savior's love for us! We are so thankful for this love which blesses us every day!
